Christmas in your own four walls

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in mid-April, and now the topping-out ceremony has been celebrated. The „Himmelblau“ development area in St. Hubert is developing quickly.

„Every good story begins with an ,Once upon a time'.“ With these words, Hermann Tecklenburg recently welcomed the future residents and their families at the topping-out ceremony in the St. Hubert development area „Himmelblau“. In doing so, the trained master mason and managing director of the eponymous corporate group was alluding to a time 55 years ago now, when as a young trainee he celebrated his first topping-out ceremony. „Today it is my 299th topping-out ceremony, whereby for our long-established company it has been important over all the years to celebrate the laying of the foundation stone, the topping-out ceremony and the inauguration,“ said Tecklenburg, who can look back on a successful history with his company.

But the future looks good too. With the „Himmelblau“ project, a large new development area is being created in several construction phases on Auf dem Zanger in St. Hubert. Tecklenburg is having 42 semi-detached houses and one apartment building with 20 condominiums built here. The starting signal was given in mid-April with the first six semi-detached houses, and by the topping-out ceremony all future residents had gathered and were visibly delighted in view of the rapid construction progress. „You can celebrate Christmas in your house,“ Tecklenburg promised. He highlighted the good cooperation with the City of Kempen and the municipal utilities. The district heating and water network for the development area have also already been largely completed. In the heating centre, water storage tanks, boilers, heat pumps and a combined heat and power unit have been installed. The chimney is up, and the solar panels have also been fitted.

„The drying-heating of the houses in the autumn is already being carried out via the heating centre,“ informed Siegfried Ferling. The managing director of the Stadtwerke Kempen pointed out that the energy-supply project of the Auf dem Zanger development area is trend-setting for Kempen. The Protestant pastor Markus Rönchen wished the residents of „Himmelblau“ above all blessed living and good neighbourliness. „The hardware is the houses. The software is how people treat one another,“ said Rönchen.

The homebuilders are already looking forward to their new development area, which is starting off with many young families. „The rural structure, the proximity to Kempen, the good infrastructure – all of that convinced us to build here,“ reported a family from Duisburg. That it would one day be St. Hubert, however, a couple from Kempen would not have thought at the start of the year. But the small district and its development area were convincing on a first visit.

While the topping-out wreath swung from the crane, Heinz-Josef van Aaken climbed to airy heights for the traditional topping-out speech. With the words „The glass must now die, gladden the building with your shards,“ the master carpenter concluded his speech and thereby gave the starting signal for the celebration. As for the further construction, the second construction phase with the next eight semi-detached houses will follow shortly. The final semi-detached houses are to be completed by the end of 2020.
