The Geiger Group's expertise

Timber construction built for the future

Timber absorbs carbon as it grows, and that carbon remains stored in the installed timber over the building's service life. How large this effect is for an individual building depends on the proportion of timber and the service life, and is demonstrated project by project in a life-cycle assessment. As part of the Geiger Group, Tecklenburg is opening up this field for the Lower Rhine – with the experience and in-house production of the Geiger Timber System Construction division.

From high-quality prefabricated timber modules to individual timber hybrids: we develop, plan and deliver timber projects holistically – with a high degree of prefabrication, short construction times and minimal rework on site.

Construction methods

Timber construction in all its facets

From a single element to a complete room module – we choose the method that fits your project.

Timber modular construction

Serially or individually prefabricated room modules – ideal for day-care centres, schools and residential neighbourhoods with a high degree of repetition and especially short construction times.

Timber element construction

Prefabricated wall, ceiling and roof elements for flexible floor plans – precisely made in the factory and quickly assembled on site.

Timber hybrid & façade construction

The combination of timber with concrete or steel where structure and use require it – complemented by durable timber façades.

Structural timber engineering

Sophisticated timber structures – for wide spans, special-purpose buildings and architecturally striking solutions.

Why timber

The material timber

Stored carbon

Timber absorbs carbon as it grows, and that carbon stays stored in the component over its service life. How large the effect is in an individual case depends on the proportion of timber and the service life, and is demonstrated project by project in a life-cycle assessment.

Short construction times

The high degree of factory prefabrication considerably shortens time on site – with consistently high quality and minimal rework.

Timber surfaces indoors

Timber surfaces help regulate humidity and are often perceived as pleasant by occupants – in flats, day-care centres and schools.

Prefabricated & demountable

A high degree of prefabrication in the plant and a construction that can be dismantled again at the end of its use.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is timber system construction?
In timber system construction, buildings are erected from prefabricated timber components – as individual elements or complete room modules. Factory production ensures high quality and considerably shorter construction times on site.
What is the difference between timber modular and element construction?
In modular construction, whole room modules are prefabricated in the factory and assembled on site – ideal for a high degree of repetition. In element construction, individual walls, ceilings and roofs are prefabricated and assembled – allowing more flexible floor plans.
What environmental properties does timber have as a building material?
Timber is a renewable raw material and stores carbon over the building's service life. Prefabrication in the factory reduces offcuts and transport journeys to the site. How large the effect is in an individual case depends on the proportion of timber and the service life, and is demonstrated per project through a life-cycle assessment. In public tenders, timber construction is increasingly taken into account as a criterion.
Which buildings is timber construction suitable for?
Especially for day-care centres, schools and educational buildings, for residential construction and neighbourhoods, and for storey additions and special-purpose buildings. Tecklenburg delivers timber construction with a focus on education and housing on the Lower Rhine and in NRW.
