A look at the “HEY” project, which occupies a total rental area (residential and commercial) of 10,000 square metres. The route leads to the east of the state capital. More precisely, to the district of Gerresheim, which became known far beyond Germany in the 19th century thanks to the glassworks located there. After its closure in 2005, this site lends itself to the development of an urban quarter with various residential typologies, commercial and service offerings, and the integration of a retail location into the already existing centre on the southern Heyestraße. With the “Glasmacherviertel” project, according to current planning, around 1,400 residential units and about 68,000 square metres of open and green space, among other things, are to be created on a total area of 300,000 square metres. Directly opposite the “Glasmacherviertel”, Tecklenburg is planning the “HEY” project on Heyestraße, a residential and commercial quarter with a total rental area of around 10,000 square metres. Of this, about 5,000 square metres are commercial spaces, which also include the retail sector. The commercial units are positioned centrally on Heyestraße to ensure optimal visibility. In this area, 40 to 60 underground parking spaces are envisaged. Thanks to the excellent connection to the public transport network, the best accessibility is guaranteed. The Gerresheim S-Bahn and U-Bahn stop is only 100 metres away. In this way, Düsseldorf city centre and the main station can be reached just as quickly as Ober-Gerresheim/Grafenberg to the north and Erkrath and Mettmann to the west. The same applies to the local recreation areas of Grafenberger Wald, Düsselauen and the Unterbacher See. As such, a good offering for young and old is provided.
