On the site of the old Heesenhof, four new residential buildings are being created. Completion: late summer 2018. The laying of the foundation stone of a building is always something special. So it was on this day in September on Schanzstraße/corner of Isidorsteg in the Sevelen town centre. The beginning of autumn had just taken a break from the rain. This suited the anticipation of those present for the prepared event. The municipality of Issum was represented by Mayor Clemens Brüx and building department head Jürgen Happe, and the Straelen company responsible for the construction by Hermann Tecklenburg, Edgar Walter and Tino Bücker. Company head Tecklenburg began his short remarks with a guessing game. He asked the group whether they knew when he had first been in Sevelen. The answer came as no surprise. 60 years ago, Tecklenburg played football in the Straelen under-12 youth team and was a guest with his team in Sevelen. Tecklenburg could no longer remember the outcome of the match. With this small reminiscence, the bridge was made to the location of the new residential project that will bring Sevelen four new buildings by late summer 2018. According to Mayor Brüx, the residential complex being built on the grounds of the former Heesenhof is “part of the Integrated Action Concept 2020”. The differently sized apartments will all be low-barrier. Pastor Stefan Keller took up this term at his blessing. “I associate with it the hope that those who will live there build few barriers and live together,” said Keller, who hopes that one day “something like a quarter spirit will develop”. For the laying of the foundation stone, a few current coins, the current edition of the Rheinische Post and the building plans were packed into a steel tube, which Hermann Tecklenburg closed and then sank into the foundation stone of the Schanz Höfe. For this, Tino Bücker and Edgar Walter as well as Jürgen Happe and Mayor Brüx equipped themselves with a trowel and took a stroke of mortar from the mortar trough. The foundation stone was thus laid.
