A modern heart for the police in Bergheim

In the town, the Tecklenburg company is building the new central office building of the district police authority of the Rhein-Erft district. The starting signal was given with the first groundbreaking ceremony.

On Sportparkstraße in Bergheim, the new central office building of the district police authority of the Rhein-Erft district is being built. In a Europe-wide tender procedure, Tecklenburg GmbH, together with the architects JBR Partner from Münster, was able to convince both functionally and economically with its design, so that the lease agreement with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was signed last year. With an investment volume of around 60 million euros, the district police authority is one of the largest projects of the Tecklenburg Group. On a plot of 21,575 square metres, the new barrier-free police building is being created with a rental area of 12,500 square metres as well as parking spaces, garages, carports and green areas. Around 430 employees will perform their duties there in the future. The building complex houses the police station with the custody area, the central control centre, various police-specific secured rooms as well as modern office space for the different departments. In addition, over 320 parking spaces for service vehicles, employees and visitors as well as for bicycles and electric vehicles including e-charging stations will be available. The integrated two-storey canteen is freely accessible to both employees and visitors. „We have worked hard“, said company head Hermann Tecklenburg. „In recent months we were able to acquire the entire plot from the town of Bergheim and complete the full building application planning for the major construction project. The approval authorities have already given the go-ahead for the start of the civil engineering works.“ With the symbolic first groundbreaking ceremony, representatives of the district and municipal administrations as well as the police celebrated the start of construction for the new police headquarters in the Rhein-Erft district. „This is the largest construction project in the history of the district‘s police“, said district administrator Frank Rock, proudly announcing that everything with the project had gone according to plan so far. „This shows that public construction projects can indeed run in an exemplary manner. It is a showcase project.“ „I am proud that the district police authority is based here at the location in the district town of Bergheim. Its processes will thereby be considerably facilitated. In my opinion, the eyes and ears of a town or a district also belong in the heart of a district and thus in the centre of the Rhein-Erft district“, said Bergheim’s mayor Volker Mießeler.
