How a family from Straelen has contributed to the success of the construction company – and still contributes today.
The men of the Straelen-based Schmidt family are already working for the construction company Tecklenburg in the third generation. With their work, they are also part of the successful company history. Günter Schmidt († 11.01.2018) worked at Tecklenburg from 1959 to 1973; he was responsible for crane assembly and acted as crane operator and machine operator. Among other things, football was his hobby; from the first team to the veterans, Günter was a role model for the younger players. For more than 30 years he was a member of SV Straelen. Georg Schmidt worked at Tecklenburg from 1984 to 2010. He was at the time the first mobile-crane operator. In addition, Georg also took over the repair of machines and lent a hand on the construction sites everywhere „help was needed“. Georg was extremely popular with his colleagues and was highly valued for his helpfulness. Because of his high level of commitment in ……….., he was even named „Man of the Year“ by boss Hermann Tecklenburg. After 26 years with the company, Georg moved to the City of Straelen and has since worked there at the municipal works yard. Tim Schmidt has been strengthening the costing department at Tecklenburg as an engineer since October 2019, where he is a tenderer for turnkey construction. Tim describes his reasons for applying to the tradition-rich Straelen construction company as follows: „I myself passed Tecklenburg every day on my way to school and could at least follow from the outside how the company changed. Of course, back then one could not perceive everything in detail. At that time my father was also still at Tecklenburg, and before him my grandfather. That certainly also influenced my decision to start here – alongside the everyday indirect connection from my childhood.“ Source: Unser Straelen
